UITP in Eurasia

UITP (Union Internationale des Transports Publics) is the International Association of Public Transport and a passionate champion of sustainable urban mobility. It is the only worldwide network to bring together all public transport stakeholders and all sustainable transport modes. Being one of the oldest public associations (established in 1885), UITP is the only Association representing the entire sector of public transport and all it' s kinds.

Over the years, UITP is adapting its structure and is expanding its interests to become more inclusive to all public transport. Deepening the dialogue between industry representatives, transport companies and authorities, allows a whole sector of mobility to work together in a spirit of partnership within the Association. UITP has always been a centre of knowledge and a place for information gathering and experience exchange, setting benchmarks in development.

Today UITP represents 1,700 member companies from 100 countries.

Biennially UITP holds Global Public Transport Summit and Exhibition, gathering representatives from all over the world. Formerly known as the UITP World Congress and Exhibition   in 2015 in Milan, the event gathered more than 2200 participants, and the exhibition, located on 30,000 m2 was visited by over 11,000 people. Global Transport Summit (May 15-17, 2017, Montreal, Canada) had over 2,500 participants from 84 countries,13,000 visitors to the exhibition of 25, 000 m2.

Taking into account the special needs of members of the section UITP has created the Eurasian Committee, transformed into the Eurasian Section of UITP on the 57th world Congress of UITP in Helsinki. Currently, the section consists of about 50 organizations. 2019 Summit hold in Stockholm  (Sweden) from 9-12 June 2019 brought together 474 exhibitors from 46 countries, 53 Congress sessions featuring 300 speakers, 2,718 attendees from 81 countries and over 15,000 single-entry Exhibition visitors, almost 170 press and media delegates from almost 40 countries

 
Eurasian Section consists of:
 
  • The Eurasian Assembly -  an open meeting of all UITP members in the region

  • Eurasian Executive Committee, working  body for planning and conducting the section activities 

The Eurasian section UITP is composed of the transport companies of Armenia,  Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia,  Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
 
Among the members are the region's largest operators, suppliers of equipment and services for public transport, associations and scientific institutions: Moscow Metro, Mosgortrans, Astana-LRT, metro companies of  Almaty, Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, Kharkov, Tashkent, International Association METRO, Metrowagonmash,  the Transport Association of the Moscow Metropolitan area, Institute of Transport Economy and Transport Policy of Higher School of Economics, Research Institute of Motor Transport, Yandex-Transport and others.

     Alexander  POLYAKOV, Director of Research and Development Institute for Urban Transportation SBI “MosTransProekt”.
Alexander worked in the structures of Russian Railways, in the IT Department of the Government of Moscow, in Moscow Traffic Control Centre as Deputy Head of Transport Planning and Information and Analytical Procurement.
Under the leadership of Mr. Polyakov a number of significant projects for the Moscow city have been developed and implemented, such as:
– development and implementation of the Transportation Management Plan in Moscow during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup;
– development of Integrated Traffic Management Scheme (ITMS);
– creation of a Dynamic Transport Model of street and road network of Moscow;
– development and optimization of route network;
– LRT Design.
In May 2016, Mr. Polyakov was awarded with a certificate of gratitude from the Mayor of Moscow for his contribution to the development of Moscow transport system.
