Routes of electric buses with dynamic charging (or trolleybuses with autonomous run) were launched in St. Petersburg at the end of 2017. In 2017-2018, the company got 115 electric bus with dynamic recharging.
Since then their presence in city mobility grew. It was reported that during the first two months of 2019 electric buses with dynamic charging carried more than 3 million passengers.
In 2019 GORELECTROTRANS noted the of trolleybus traffic growth. For the first two months, trolleybuses carried 23.5 million passengers, which is 900 thousand more than in the same period of 2018. A significant increase is explained by implementation of new mode of transport – electric buses with dynamic charging (trolleybuses with increased autonomous run). The calculations are showing positive dynamics on all routes compared to the previous year.
A significant advantage of the city is the presence of developed trolleybus infrastructure. In less than a year, the city has formed Russia's largest route network of innovative trolleybuses, which covers all parts of the city. In regular mode, the autonomous course is used for the extension of trolleybus lines in the far districts. In one more case, it is used for inter-district communications: in the middle of the route. In the city centre, the new technology allowed the "clean" from the contact network the famous Kazan Cathedral, to straighten the route and to speed movement to avoid a detour of a narrow lane. In addition, in 2018, temporary routes were used during the repair works.
