Moscow was preparing for electric buses coming during the last 2 years with tests and markets-operator diologue. It is estimated that after delivery of the first 300 electric buses, Moscow will be among the leaderes in the world in their number. After the first "300 unit purchase" of 2018, it is planned to continue purchase with 300 units annually in 2019-2020. "Since 2021, the city will buy only electric buses instead of diesel buses," comments the press service of Moscow Transport Department.
Electric buses will have low floors, equipped for low-mobility passengers and will be able to accommodate at least 85 people. Vehicles will have climate control, video surveillance and satellite navigation systems, USB-connectors for charging mobile devices, free Wi-Fi.
The installed ultra – fast charging stations will need 3-6 minutes to charge the vehicle during the movement.
The initial purchase was planned for 10.5 billion of roubles, but RBC reported that this April the starting price was decreased by an average of 40%. It was decided to exclude the replacement of onboard power sources after 7,5 years of operation from the terms of reference. Mosgortrans expects that in 7,5 years the developing technologies will make batteries at least lighter and cheaper.
