New Eurasia Division chairman elected

November 14, Eurasian UITP Division hold its yearly meeting.

Alexander POLYAKOV, CEO MosTransProekt - research and development institute for urban transportation, - was elected the Chairman of the Eurasian UITP DIivision. Along with this post, he will have the positions of member of UITP Executive and Policy Board and UITP vice-president.

Eugene MIKHAILOV, former chairman, left MOSGORTRANS, earlier this year.

“It is a great honour for me to become the Chairman of the Eurasian Assembly of the UITP. I have a vision of its development strategy - to unite all the experience and competence that we possess and to engage in active work all countries that are members of the Eurasian Assembly - Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and others. We will make every effort to ensure that the commission is an effective mechanism in the development of transport infrastructure and an open platform for discussion,” – expressed Alexander POLYAKOV.
“Alexander’s candidacy was unanimously supported by all the members, and that says a lot. He knows the sector and the regional agenda perfectly well, which means we can do more for the development of public transport in the cities of Russia and Eurasia, as well as ensure regional representation at the international level,” – commented Yussup KHASSIEV, the Head of UITP offices in Moscow and Astana.

Assembly discussed the previous period events and plans of division.

Mr.MIKHAILOV got the biggest gratitude for his dedicated service as division chairman for the last 4 years. He got numerous wishes for all the success in his further activities.



Alexander POLYAKOV, born 1980, is the Director of the largest transport project of the Institute of Russia -  GBU "MosTransProekt. Alexander has a degree in Engeneering.

He worked in the structures of Russian Railways, in the Department of information technology of the Government of Moscow, in the Center of Traffic Management of the Government of Moscow.

He supervised the development of the transport model of the Moscow agglomeration, transport planning, and related issues of improving the mathematical apparatus of the transport model of Moscow.
